Important Notice

We have made a decision relating to our SAFPS events, in particular, the SAFPS Fraud Summit.

As an organisation, we want to continue providing our trusted services, but we also want to enhance our offering and focus on opening doors that will allow for cross-sector fraud prevention collaboration efforts.

After much consideration and deliberation, we have decided to focus more on smaller and intimate in-person events with our Member organisations and industry partners that allow us to bring expert opinions and learnings to you on a more regular basis. This will include in-person events in more than one region with the potential of allowing others to join virtually as well

Our goal is to create a fraud fighting community, provide solutions to support this, and find innovative ways to support fraud prevention efforts.

If you want to discuss possible collaboration opportunities, awareness campaigns, or partner on events that support fraud prevention efforts, please reach out to elmik@SAFPS.org.za.

A day well spent at SAFPS (Southern African Fraud Prevention Service) 2023 7th International Fraud Summit. So much insights shared. While fraud and online scams are in the rise, consumers can protect themselves by being vigilant while transacting online. A new platform called Yima was launched to verify if the site you are trading on is safe. Suppliers who are registered with Consumer Goods & Services Ombud are safe to trade with as they have pledged to provide redress to consumers should something go wrong or if goods become defective within 6 months in line with the Consumer Protection Act. We are collaborating with other stakeholders to ensure that consumers are empowered to fight fraud.

Yima: a website to track scams. As technology and AI improves, it is becoming easier for criminal syndicates to hoodwink people. Enter Yima, a tool to try and help stem the tide. At a fraud summit recently held by the South African Fraud Prevention Service (SAFPS), experts from anti-fraud units across the world sent a clear message: scams and incidences of fraud are increasing exponentially.
